GET A LIFE!!!

So we all are in some kind of stage or phase in the Days of our Lives right? No matter which stage you are, make the most of it and enjoy it. LIFE is far to short to live in the past or even worse, Waste it.

When I was in Knysna  for my holiday, I met up with Rose Greyling Bilbrough of the Knysna tourism office. She told me of all their cool projects.  Being the community person that I am, I quite liked the "Red Socks-Friday" initiative, so I added a bit of flair to it.  Scarves and Stockings is twist to the initiative..
So what do you think???

So my next step is to get more information about the initiative and then connect with the Locals here in Cape Town.
So become a member of my blog and share your ideas and post a pic of your Red Socks/Stockings or Scarf.

Don't forget there is only ONE of you so B.U.

Happy YOU Year!!!

It’s a New year and a New YOU

Young Old United...2013

A new year has started and now we making all kinds of resolutions.  I think, that the only resolution is to start being YOU and not try being someone else.  So I have dedicated my 2013 Blogs to being authentically ME.  Cape Town’s “Trendy Capeflats Girl.”

Living in the 21st century and keeping up our traditional and/or cultural fashion can be very challenging. However, I promised to be ME and so, you can B.U too. I know that it is very challenging but the only way to get from A to Zee is doing it in baby steps and in a no time U. R. A for Away!!!

So this is my basic fashion steps.

I take a simple long dress and a pants with a matching scarf. This is how I look the traditional way.  I know ... I know many of you don’t want to look like this.

So now I will take these few accessories.....
  • Colour head band
  • Some interesting earings
  • A choker/chain that complements the earings
  • A belt that will take the colour of your pants and head band
  • Some comfortable shoes to match your dress/bag
  • Add some sunglasses mixed with some serious confidence and attitude

A touch of eye-liner, mascara and a lipstick to finish off your complete look. Don't forget the sunglasses...lol :-)

For an interesting look in the scarf design use the fringe to add character and style.

For the modest model drape the scarf over the head and around to cover the neck line. Be daring and use your scarf in various ways not just the conventional way.  Now you are ready to be the first class version of yourself rather than a second class imitations of someone else.

Go on....... B.U.

On the Wings of LOVE

Life without Living is a waste of  a good LIFE.  Living and being in the moments is what makes LIFE worth living.  Never in my wildest dreams I've ever imagined this Local Girl joining our feathered friends gliding the clear beautiful blue sky early Thursday morning the 12/4/2012.  Thank you Braam of Cape Town Helicopters at the V&A Waterfront. You ROCK!!

So often we say "I don't have the TIME" or another one "I don’t have MONEY"  yep still waiting for that ship to sail in.  I say, STOP waiting and start SWIMMING to meet that ship.  Make a conscious DECISION to start LIVING.  Let's start with a DREAM or a WISH list or what was it you wanted to be when you Grow up again???..lol.  I wanted to be an Air Hostess and now I know what it feels like being in the sky flying even if it was only of 15min in a helicopter, but it was so worth it and I felt as FREE as a bird.  Take control of your LIFE. Start DREAMING then give me the “thumbs up” by following me and together we can make dreams and wishes a reality.

You are never to Old or too Young to ENJOY Life to it’s fullest.

U and only you are the co-creator of your Life’s Journey so make it Memorable.

It is completely up to U!!!

We live in the Most Beautiful City and Country in the World, it's time to start Exploring it.

Let the Trendy Cape Flats Girl take you on a Journey and "Leave with Stories no-one-else can tell"

LOVEstyle

We just passed the month of LOVE it's also the month I tied the knot with my Knight. If you are married for a long as I am  (or longer) you will know that LOVE or being IN-LOVE is short lived.  The Honeymoon stage and being Ga...Ga... eyes over each other fades and sometimes die out, but it can be revived.
This is a topic we do not discuss with ANYONE. "Ons praat nie uit ons slaap kamer nie".  Keep it behind close doors neh!! and suffer in silence.

NO MORE suffering for this LOVE child and it can work for you too.

This is what I did:-
So, I did pick up some kg's but having kids is no joke hey... so I learnt to love all of my kg and just work with it.
I made peace that I am no longer tight and toned with a few trail track or hale damage aka "streatch marks". That is my proof of becoming a woman or child bearer
Then decided to take control of what I say to myself (that little voice in my head) she's not very kind once she starts.  I told her "Girlfriend, move over cos I no longer will take your
Sh#@%t I will LOVE Me..Myself and I with or without your guilt trips you put me on.
After that I found a way of mixing with the kinda sistas that get me and know what a challenge it is to be a "Super Woman" and also to pep talk me so now and then when I go off with that conversation in my head again.
I hooked up with some cool bath & body products to pamper and explore the new ME.
Then I got some education about my Sexuality and Sensuality and HELL was that a lekker sesson.
All I am saying both of us are smiling :-) and after 23yrs it's like falling inLOVE all ova again.

So hook yourself up with people who can help you improve your life and add value to it.  There are different people for different areas in your life.  But for now I can be your LADY LOLLA of LOVE that will help you to Spice Up your LOVE Life.

My advice is..... B U  mwah :-)

Who's that Girl

I go by the name of Aqeelah and I love being a Kaapenaar.  I am born, raised and schooled in Bonteheuwel and Athlone.  A place where I still call my home because some of the family still live there and I love being real and true to my roots. The place where I go to visit my parents is Valhalla Park a small little community just outside of Kalksteenfontein and Bonteheuwel.  I am sure some of my readers don't know where it is or too scared to even go there.  But it's OK no worry we all have our fears even if it is only in our heads...LOL

Keeping it real means a lot to me, because I know who I am and where I come from and I still frequent the places on the flats. That is where I met my hubby 26yrs ago at the flats, Manenberg to be exact.  His family still live there and we visit regularly.

District Six was once area where everything and everyone came together, but when they were removed the Capeflats became their home.  The one thing that I like about the flats is there are more much more to see and experience because we have such a big area of "Die Kaapenaars  se Vibe".  That is what I want to capture as a "Proud Capeflats Girl"

I might live in Woodlands Park now but I still move in the communities.  I drive staff to their homes and I get to see and experience the flats first hand no "stories wat ek gehoor het nie"  I get it first hand.  From Heideveld, Athlone, Manenberg, Guguletu, Bonteheuwel, Langa. Parkwood, Lavender Hill and Steenberg.  Don't forget Grassy Park and Retreat.  Delft Mitchell's Plain and Khayelitsha.

So you see, I know all the gaaitjies because I have to drop them off at their homes and I get to chat to them really feel the love they have to offer.  Onse mense is talented they just don't get the chance to stage it on a regular basis.  I want to be that platform that will help ons Kaapenaars or the Cape Coloured if you are english speaking....LOL to show what it is that make us such friendly and fun loving people.  But I know we have our moments and struggles but apart from that we have a VIBE that I would like to put on the map.

Now what map am I talking about.  The Cape Town Tourist Map.  I have a tour operating company and I want to get my Capeflats community involve to put us on the MAP.  We are such a mix briedie of races and cultures we can't help being called "Coloured"  mos die rainbow nation. Daar is van alles gemix..lol

So every last Wednesday on the month I will post a little write up on one of the communities that I go to and just check it out chat to some homies and so on... then I tell you what I found out.  I sommer make my tour route through there and hook up with the community to see what they are up to.

So look out for me I might be in your community checking you out.  My tours is interestingly mixed so don't expect the same old....same old stuff from me.  There are plenty others that you can choose from.

Keep it real....just B U
